Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies

Program OverviewThe Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies serves as the foundational academic entryway into Sharia and Usul al-Deen studies. It aims to equip students with core knowledge across Islamic Theology (Aqidah), Quranic Exegesis and Sciences, Hadith Studies, Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and its Principles (Usul al-Fiqh), as well as supporting disciplines according to the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah. The program builds scholarly aptitude, enhances text analysis skills, and instills ethical values rooted in Islamic Sharia, preparing graduates for advanced postgraduate studies or careers in education and community guidance.

Objectives
  • Provide foundational knowledge across Sharia, Theology, Quranic Sciences, and Hadith according to Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah.
  • Enable correct recitation of the complete Quran with Tajweed rules and memorization of at least 5 Juz', focusing on accurate articulation and general comprehension.
  • Qualify students to transmit selected Prophetic Hadiths with continuous chains of transmission (Isnad).
  • Develop scholarly competence in analyzing sacred texts and addressing contemporary issues.
  • Promote moderation, balance, and Islamic ethical values.
  • Equip students with Arabic language skills required for understanding Islamic texts.
  • Prepare qualified graduates for employment in education, guidance, preaching, and for postgraduate studies.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Upon completion of this program, students are expected to be able to:

Knowledge

  1. Explain foundational knowledge and concepts in their specialization according to a structured scientific methodology.
  2. Detail the principles of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah theology, its sources, and methods of deduction.
  3. Recite by memory at least five Juz' of the Holy Quran with precise Tajweed.
  4. Distinguish methods of Hadith transmission, reception, and key rules of narration.
  5. Explain core and contemporary issues in Fiqh, Aqidah, Tafsir, and Hadith.

Skills

  1. Compare in a scholarly and systematic manner between legal schools (Madhabs) and theological doctrines.
  2. Apply scientific methodology to present Sunni theology and refute misconceptions with textual and rational evidence.
  3. Recite the entire Holy Quran accurately according to Tajweed rules.
  4. Narrate selected Prophetic Hadiths with connected Isnad and precise wording.

Values

  1. Uphold Islamic ethics of honesty, integrity, and responsibility in behavior and conduct.
  2. Contribute to community service by applying sacred knowledge to address contemporary challenges.
Admission Requirements
  • High School Diploma (General Secondary Certificate, Technical Baccalaureate, or Sharia High School Diploma) equivalated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon.
  • Passing the entrance examination for the Bachelor’s program.
