About the Department
The Department of Islamic Studies was founded with the launch of Global University in Beirut in the 1990s as one of its core academic divisions. Since then, hundreds of students from over thirty Arab and international countries, alongside Lebanese students, have graduated, establishing it as a premier destination for knowledge seekers.
The department adheres in Islamic Theology to the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah (Ash’ari & Maturidi schools), and in Jurisprudence to the four recognized Sunni schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali), with emphasis on authentic Sufism following the path of al-Junayd rooted in solid sacred knowledge, spiritual purification, moderation, and balance.
Supported by distinguished faculty members holding high academic credentials across Usul al-Deen and Sharia, the department provides progressive academic degree programs across three levels: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate (Ph.D.), covering Quranic Sciences, Hadith Studies, Islamic Theology, Jurisprudence, Prophetic Biography, Comparative Religion, Arabic Language & Literature, and Research Methodology.

Mission
The department strives to provide sound religious, and theological education based on the Holy Quran and Prophetic Sunnah according to Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah. Through comprehensive academic programs, it equips specialists and researchers with scientific skills while upholding integrity, moderation, and active community service.
